Top SEO Courses in India: A Fresher’s Guide to Choosing the Right One

Class Central lists 1,014 SEO courses and Udemy another 861. Indian institutes add dozens more, from Mumbai to Chennai to Bangalore. The digital marketing courses market is growing at 11.8% a year, and the ratings tell you very little: Simplilearn shows 4.6 on Trustpilot, IIDE shows 4.7, and Trustpilot has removed fake reviews from WsCube Tech’s page and hidden its score. Star ratings will not pick your SEO course for you. Eight simple questions will, and if a course fails the important ones, you should walk away before you pay.

01

TL;DR:

The best SEO course in India for you depends on eight questions: is it live, is it fairly priced, what job support is real, how long is it, how experienced is the trainer, does the trainer still work on client projects, will you build AI agents, and are GEO and AEO in the syllabus?

Mohit’s SEO Training scores highest on these questions because it is live, small (10 students), costs ₹15,000, and teaches GEO, AEO and AI agents from a trainer who still runs client SEO. WsCube Tech, Digital Scholar, Simplilearn and Coursera are solid alternatives, while Ahrefs and Semrush Academy are the best free starting points. Drop any course that promises guaranteed placement or is taught by someone who no longer does SEO.

02

Who is this guide for?

This guide is for anyone starting SEO from zero, which in my classes usually means one of three people. They all begin as freshers in SEO, even if they are not freshers in life.

WhoStarting pointWhat they need from a course
A fresher or studentNo work experience, plenty of timeA job-ready portfolio, interview practice and a clear path
A founderRuns a business, little timeSEO applied to their own website, tied to leads and revenue
A career switcherExperience in another field, needs a new roleFast, practical skills, plus proof they can show a new employer

All three make the same mistake: they pick a course by brand name or star rating. The eight questions below fix that. If you’re completely new, read what SEO is in simple words first.

In short: This guide is for freshers, founders and career switchers who are new to SEO and need a course that matches their goal, not just a famous name.

03

What 8 questions should you ask before enrolling in an SEO course?

Ask these eight questions on the counselling call, and ask for the answers in writing. Each one comes with a tip on whether a wrong answer means you should drop the course.

1. Is the course live or offline?

Live means a trainer teaches you in real time, online or in a classroom. Recorded means you watch videos alone. Live online is now the best of both: real-time teaching, recordings for revision, and no commute.

Tip: If the course is fully recorded and you are a fresher or career switcher, drop it unless you are unusually self-disciplined. Recorded courses work for revision, not for building skill.

2. Is it too costly?

In India, a good live SEO course costs roughly ₹15,000 to ₹60,000. Self-paced courses run from a few hundred rupees to about ₹35,000. Price alone doesn’t tell you quality, but cost per live hour and batch size do.

Tip: If you are paying ₹35,000 or more for mostly recorded videos, or the fee isn’t written down before you pay, drop it. A fair course shows the full fee, EMI options and refund policy upfront.

3. Is the institute providing you the job?

No institute can honestly guarantee you a job. Employers hire people, not certificates. What an institute can do is help you build a portfolio, prepare for interviews and share openings.

Warning: If someone says they will get you the job, they are probably trying to fool you. “100% placement guarantee” is a sales line. Ask them for the guarantee in writing, with the refund terms if you don’t get placed. Most will change the subject.

Tip: Drop the course if job placement is the main selling point. Stay if they offer real support: mock interviews, portfolio reviews and referrals, described honestly.

4. How long is the program?

A useful SEO program runs 6 weeks to 4 months. Shorter than that and you only get definitions. Much longer and you are often paying for unrelated digital marketing modules.

Tip: If an “SEO course” is under 10 hours, treat it as an introduction, not training. If a 6-month program gives SEO only a few weeks, it isn’t an SEO course, so drop it if SEO is your goal.

5. How experienced is the trainer?

Ask who teaches the classes, not who founded the institute. Look for 5+ years of hands-on SEO, with real client or company work you can check on LinkedIn.

Tip: If the institute can’t name your trainer before you pay, or the trainer has never done SEO for a real business, drop it.

6. Is the trainer still working on SEO projects?

This is the question most people forget, and it matters most. Google changes constantly, and AI search has changed SEO more in two years than the previous ten. A trainer who stopped doing client work three years ago is teaching you a version of SEO that no longer exists.

Tip: If the trainer only teaches and no longer works on live projects, drop the course. You need someone who tested what they are teaching last month.

7. Are you going to learn to build AI agents?

In 2026, SEO professionals use AI agents to run audits, write briefs, track rankings and build reports. Learning to build them is what separates a fast, modern SEO from someone doing everything by hand.

Tip: If the syllabus doesn’t mention AI at all, drop it. If it only mentions “using ChatGPT for content”, treat that as a weak answer and keep comparing.

8. Is GEO and AEO covered in the syllabus?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) are how you get cited in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. They are now a core part of SEO, not an extra. I explain them in how to rank in ChatGPT and Perplexity.

Tip: If GEO and AEO are missing from the syllabus, drop the course. It is teaching you yesterday’s SEO.

In short: Before enrolling, check that the course is live, fairly priced, honest about jobs, 6 weeks to 4 months long, taught by an experienced trainer who still works on SEO projects, and covers AI agents, GEO and AEO. Anyone who promises to get you a job is probably trying to fool you.

04

What are the top 10 SEO courses in India?

I judged each program against the eight questions above, using public course pages, learner reviews and my own published reviews. Scores are out of 5.

“Not confirmed” means I could not find it in the public syllabus. Ask the institute directly, using question 8.

In short: Mohit’s SEO Training leads at 4.9 out of 5 as the only program in this list that is live, small-batch, affordable and teaches GEO, AEO and AI agents. WsCube Tech, Digital Scholar, Simplilearn, UC Davis and Ahrefs follow at 3.5.

05

How does each SEO course perform on the 8 questions?

1. Mohit’s SEO Training: 4.9 out of 5

This is my own program, so read this one with that in mind. It is a live online course for 8 weeks with a maximum of 10 students, at ₹15,000 with recordings for revision. The syllabus covers on-page, technical and off-page SEO, GEO and AEO, tools, and SEO automation, and you learn to build your own AI SEO agents. I still run client SEO, so what I teach is what I tested on live projects. Founders can choose the one-on-one program, a private 4-week sprint on their own site with a 12-month roadmap, from ₹49,999. I don’t promise jobs. I help you build a portfolio and prepare for interviews.

Review sources: student testimonials, course page.

2. WsCube Tech: 3.5 out of 5

A live online SEO course with 6 weeks and 60+ live hours in evening batches, plus projects and a demo day. Learners on Course Report praise practical projects, patient mentors and interview preparation. Trustpilot, however, has removed fake reviews from WsCube Tech’s page and hides its score. The fee isn’t published, and GEO/AEO and AI agents aren’t clearly in the SEO syllabus.

Review sources: Course Report (4.84 from 113 reviews), Trustpilot (score withheld).

3. Digital Scholar: 3.5 out of 5

Live online or classroom teaching in an agency-style setup, where students work on briefs in teams. The main course runs about 4 months for around ₹59,000, but SEO is one part of a broader digital marketing program. Good if you want all of digital marketing, less good if you want deep SEO.

Review sources: Trustpilot (3.6 from 490 reviews), my Digital Scholar review.

4. Simplilearn: 3.5 out of 5

An online bootcamp with about 35 recorded hours, 16 live instructor-led hours and 20+ projects, priced at roughly $800 to $1,499. The brand is strong and the certificate is recognised. But it is mostly recorded, and AI search is only partly covered.

Review sources: Trustpilot (4.6 from 33,498 reviews, all courses), my Simplilearn review.

5. UC Davis SEO Specialization on Coursera: 3.5 out of 5

Five self-paced courses taking about 2 months at 10 hours a week, with a university certificate. More than 278,000 learners have enrolled. It builds strong fundamentals but has no live trainer, and you need real-site practice on top.

Review sources: Coursera (4.6 from 13,112 reviews), my UC Davis review.

6. Ahrefs Academy (free): 3.5 out of 5

The best free starting point. The SEO course runs about 3.5 hours across 62 lessons, with a certificate valid for a year, and Ahrefs also has a free AEO course. It is free and current, but there’s no feedback on your work.

Review sources: Ahrefs Academy, Swydo certification guide.

7. Growth School: 3.0 out of 5

Live, mentor-led cohorts with a community, and learners praise the practical workshops. Trustpilot reviews also report high-pressure sales, refund problems and some sessions advertised as live that turned out to be recorded. Get the fee, refund policy and live-session schedule in writing.

Review sources: Trustpilot (3.9 from 6,283 reviews), my Growth School alternatives guide.

8. IIDE SEO course: 3.0 out of 5

A clear, beginner-friendly course from a well-known brand: about 12 hours of recorded video, weekly doubt sessions and 60 days of access, for ₹34,999 plus tax. The price is high for recorded basics, and there are no live projects.

Review sources: Trustpilot (4.7 from 92 reviews, whole institute), my IIDE review.

9. Digital Vidya SEO course: 3.0 out of 5

A budget self-study option: recorded videos over about a month for around ₹11,900 plus GST. There’s no live trainer, and one recent review says the course access period wasn’t disclosed upfront.

Review sources: Trustpilot (4.0 from 77 reviews), my Digital Vidya review.

10. Semrush Academy (free): 3.0 out of 5

Free courses of 1 to 7 hours each, with a certificate per course. It’s good for learning SEO and the Semrush tool together, but it leans toward the tool and offers no feedback.

Review sources: Semrush Academy, my Semrush review.

In short: Mohit’s SEO Training scores highest because it passes all eight questions. WsCube Tech, Digital Scholar, Simplilearn, UC Davis and Ahrefs are solid but miss live teaching, depth or AI search. Growth School, IIDE, Digital Vidya and Semrush Academy have useful content but fail several of the questions.

06

Which SEO course should a fresher, founder or career switcher choose?

You areStart free withThen chooseWhy
A fresherAhrefs AcademyA live group course such as Mohit’s SEO Training or WsCube TechYou need structure, feedback, a portfolio and interview practice
A founderGoogle’s SEO Starter Guide and your own Search ConsoleOne-on-one SEO training on your own websiteYou need SEO tied to leads and revenue, not a certificate
A career switcherAhrefs or Semrush AcademyA live advanced course with GEO, AEO and AI agentsYou need modern skills fast, plus proof for a new employer

Whatever you choose, practise on a real website from week one. My guide on how to learn SEO step by step shows the order to follow.

In short: Freshers should start free and join a live group course. Founders should learn one-on-one on their own site. Career switchers need a live advanced course that covers GEO, AEO and AI agents.

07

What do people ask about SEO courses in India?

Which is the best SEO course in India?

The best SEO course is the one that passes all eight questions in this guide. By that test, Mohit’s SEO Training scores highest: live, small-batch, ₹15,000, and covering GEO, AEO and AI agents. A fresher who chooses on these questions instead of brand name usually ends up with a smaller, more practical course.

Can an SEO course guarantee me a job?

No. Any institute that says it will get you a job is probably trying to fool you. A good course gives you skills, a portfolio and interview practice. The job comes from what you can show an employer.

Is a free SEO course enough?

It’s enough to learn the terms, not to get hired. Free courses like Ahrefs and Semrush Academy are excellent introductions, but nobody reviews your work, and that feedback is how skill is built.

How much does a good SEO course cost in India?

A good live SEO course usually costs ₹15,000 to ₹60,000. One-on-one training starts around ₹50,000. Be careful with anything above ₹35,000 that is mostly recorded videos.

Can a career switcher with no marketing background learn SEO?

Yes. I regularly teach people from sales, teaching, engineering and commerce backgrounds. Their earlier work experience often helps, because SEO is about understanding what customers search for.

In short: The best SEO course passes all eight questions. No course can guarantee a job, free courses only cover the basics, good live courses cost ₹15,000 to ₹60,000, and career switchers from any field can learn SEO.

08

So, which SEO course in India should you join?

Start free with Ahrefs Academy so you know you enjoy SEO. Then take the eight questions to every institute you consider, and drop any course that fails the important ones: recorded-only teaching, a trainer who no longer works on SEO projects, no GEO or AEO, or a promise to get you a job. If you are serious about learning SEO and executing it, choose a live program taught by someone who still works on client projects.

You can see how Mohit’s SEO Training answers all eight questions on the course page, or contact me and I’ll answer them for you directly, in writing.

In short: Start free, ask the eight questions, drop courses that fail them, and choose a live program taught by a working SEO practitioner.

I run Mohit’s SEO Training, which is ranked first in this list, so please weigh my scores with that in mind. Fees, durations and ratings for other providers come from their public pages, third-party listings and review sites as of October 2026, and may change. Trustpilot scores for some institutes cover all their courses, not only SEO. Please confirm current details with each institute before you enrol. No SEO course can guarantee a job.
